Cambodia-based 9 Khmer Kampuchea Krom associations and organizations appeal to the authorities to re-investigate the assassination of the lat Ven. Eang Sokthoeun, who attended the 2007 rally to call on the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to respect the human and religious rights of the Khmers in Kampuchea Krom, formerly part of the Kingdom of Cambodia. When the venerable returns to His pagoda at Wat Tronom Jring in Kchau village, Boeng Thom commune, Ang Snuol district, Kandal province, he was murdered in an assassinated-style by having his throat sleeth off on February 27, 2007.

Authorities from local all the way up to the prime minister have not responded to the request of the Khmer Krom communities in 2007. Wat Tronom Jring did not held a Buddhist ceremony for the venerable. His Body was deposed by burying outside compound of the temple. Back in 2007 local authorites would not even allow the Khmer Krom communities to hold a Buddhist ceremony for the venerable as shown in these February 2011 photos.

Ven. Eang Sokthoeun is approximately age 33, abbot, Human and Religious Rights Activist, born in Baaychhao district, Khleang province, Kampuchea Krom. He died just for expressing his fundamental rights, the right to assemble, the right to free speech, and the right to practice religion.
